I am SO sorry to hear of David's death. He was amazing! His personality was almost bigger than he was. Actually, I didn't like him much, but I admired him greatly. He had forgotten more about literature than I'll probably ever know! He taught me that personalities are never to get in the way of learning something you want to know from someone who knows it. He was an excellent teacher. Always on time, always prepared, always willing to listen, always ready to help.
I remember the first time he took our entire class to his house for coffee and discussion - I'd never seen a house with so many books. I loved that he loved books as much as I did. I'll never forget him. His family is in my prayers. (...)
